The Improved Bird's Nest - Hare's Ear Beadhead pattern has been around for decades, and continues to be a part of most anglers fly box. Why? Because it is as effective today as it was back in 1959, when Cal Bird first tied this fly to imitate a caddis pupa.

The pattern is considered to be an Attractor Pattern. With the soft hackle tied to the front of the fly, it imitates a struggling mayfly emerging in the water column, and when swing downstream, does well during a caddis hatch.

This is a very versatile fly.
