Andros is the largest island in the Bahamas, but it remains remarkably undeveloped compared with many Caribbean destinations.
For fly anglers, that means water—lots of it.
The Middle and South Bights form an enormous network of flats, creeks, mangrove shorelines, channels, and backcountry habitat. Instead of fishing a handful of well-known flats day after day, guides have access to a tremendous amount of water and can adjust each day's plan around tides, weather, wind, and fish movement.
Andros has earned its reputation as the Bonefish Capital of the World for good reason. Anglers can encounter everything from large schools of cruising bonefish to opportunities at individual fish capable of making an already memorable trip unforgettable.
And the fishing isn't limited to bonefish.
Bonefish
The primary target and the fish that made Andros famous. Expect opportunities ranging from schools of fish to larger singles and doubles cruising shallow flats.
Permit
Never guaranteed and never easy—but always worth being ready for when one appears.
Tarpon
Conditions and timing can create opportunities for tarpon throughout the Andros fishery.
Barracuda
Fast, aggressive, and an exciting change of pace when exploring the flats.
From Monday through Thursday, you'll fish full days with experienced local Andros guides.
Each morning, anglers leave Swain's Cay by skiff and head into the Middle and South Bights. Your guide will determine where to fish based on tides and conditions, allowing the group to take advantage of the enormous variety of water surrounding Mangrove Cay.
Depending on the day, you may be poling shallow flats looking for moving fish, working mangrove edges, exploring interior creeks, or covering larger stretches of open water.
The lodge also has a wading flat directly off the beach, giving anglers another opportunity to explore the water outside normal guided fishing hours.
Your home for the week is Swain's Cay Lodge, located beachfront on Mangrove Cay.
The lodge provides convenient access to the Andros fishery while giving anglers a comfortable place to unwind after a full day on the flats.
Accommodations are based on double occupancy, with anglers sharing a boat during guided fishing days.
Between fishing days, guests have access to the lodge's kayaks and bikes, complimentary Wi-Fi, and daily room amenities.
Fishing may be the reason for the trip, but the evenings are part of the experience too.
Meals are served through the lodge's Reefside Restaurant & Bar, featuring local Bahamian cooking and fresh seafood, including dishes such as lobster and locally caught fish.
Your package includes three meals per day:
Then it's time to trade stories, rig rods, and get ready for another day on the flats.
This trip is fully hosted by Precision Fly Fishing, providing support before and throughout the trip to help you fish more effectively and confidently.
You don't have to be an expert saltwater angler to experience Andros, but anglers should come prepared for the unique demands of flats fishing.
This trip is a great fit for anglers who want to:
For anglers new to destination saltwater fishing, traveling with Precision also removes much of the uncertainty that comes with tackling a new fishery for the first time.
