Over and over, this has proved to provide the irridescence fish can''t resist and just enough differentation to make your fly attractively stand out. The Buckskin has remained one of the most productive patterns during the Caddis hatch. Fish this pattern below a dry fly such as an Elk Hair Caddis or in tandem with a weighted nymph such as the Caddis Poopah.

View full detailsThe genus Ephemerella mayfly, or pale morning dun represents the largest mayfly hatch in North America, both in sheer numbers of insects and the number of rivers that they are found in. The Etha Wing Pale Morning Dun Emerger should be fished with floatant applied only to the wings of the fly. The rest of the fly will sink, giving a trout the appearance that the pmd is hatching. Trout love to eat emergers because they are defenseless and an easy meal.

View full detailsThe Parachute electric Green Drake is one of the most realistic Green Drake (Ephemera guttulatais) patterns that we offer. The green drake is one of the largest mayflies that trout have available to them. They generally hatch mid-day, and will cause trout to focus only on this fly pattern. The nymph emerges to the surface of the water quickly, and after drying its wings, flies off. This leaves little time for trout to grab a bite, so they become very opportunistic when they see the electric green drake dry fly.

View full detailsJohn Andrew, one of the most successful DIY fly fishermen to fish the Bahamas, showed us this fly last year, and then proceeded to out fish everyone with it. John was very generous in sharing this fly with Discountflies so that others could be as successful as he. Through his extensive testing John found that the dark version works especially well in waters with a darker bottom or in areas with turtle grass. This fly is tied on a Gama SL-11 3H. The Gamakatsu SL-11 3H is one of the strongest and sharpest hooks available, and worth every penny when you hook-up with a fish of a lifetime! Additionally, new production also includes a weed guard, which can easily be trimmed off if it is not necessary.
