    There's some debate surrounding the origins of this fly.  Most seem to agree that Richard Whitner was involved in the early development of crab patterns using flex material.  What isn't up for debate is that this crab pattern is a go-to fish slayer.  The mesh flex material and internal dumbell eyes result in a fly that sinks rapidly and can be put right in front of feeding fish.  Try it in blue, tan, camo, and olive.
