View full detailsWithout question, the Callibaetis is the most important stillwater Mayfly in the western United States. Prolific hatches occur on reservoirs, lakes and ponds beginning in May and continuing through August. The Ostribaetis Nymph is a highly effective imitation of the Callibaetis nymph as it rises through the water column to reach the surface. This pattern can be fished on a full-sink, sinking tip, or floating line below a strike indicator. Most strikes on a full-sink or sinking tip line will come with a slow retrieve as the nymph draws towards the surface; fishing this pattern below a strike indicator can be very effective if the line is slowly drawn in and then allowed to slack back out, giving the pattern an ascending-descending motion common to the natural. Fish the Ostribaetis Nymph on your favorite stillwater between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. for some of the best fishing of the summer. One more piece of advice: hang on to your rod!

In off-color water, the rubber legs lend to its effectiveness like that of the traditional Girdle Bug. Trout love 'em, and give them a try for steelhead as well. Please note: we use synthetic material for the thorax and tail.

View full detailsThe Bird's Nest pattern has been around for decades, and continues to be a part of most anglers fly box. The Depth Charge Bird's Nest Natural takes all of the best of the orignal pattern, and adds a pair of tungsten beads to get the fly deep quickly. The pattern is considered to be an Attractor Pattern. With the soft hackle tied to the front of the fly, it imitates a struggling mayfly emerging in the water column, and when swing downstream, does well during a caddis hatch. This is a very versatile fly.
