View full detailsThe classic Chubby Chernobyl is known for immitating numerous types insects (from stoneflies to terrestials) as well as being a great indicator for a dry-dropper rig. Using the foam liner from a drawer, Mr Davidson originally tied an ant pattern (no Chubby style wings). In a moment of mash-up, he combined the two concepts. Use this variation by itself or as the top fly in a dry-dropper rig during hot summer days.

View full detailsThe Whitefly hatch is a pretty amazing hatch. Happening in the hottest months, the Ephoron Mayfly has condensed the entire hatch to a less than 3 hour period. With both Dun and Spinners on the surface at the same time, pretty much every fish in the water reacts to this spectacular event. The White Fly Spinner is a perfect pattern to fish a single or in tandem behind a Parachute White Fly.

View full detailsThe Trico Mayfly (Tricorythodes Minutus) vary in size from #18 to #24. Males emerge in the evening, and spend the night in a local shrub along the river. Females hatch in the morning, and become spinners within several hours. While the females hatch, the males molt into spinners, forming a massive cloud of flying trout food. Trout will begin to feed on these tiny mayflies as they fall to the water, the females to lay eggs, the males, spent. The trick to catching fish during the trico hatch is to cast your fly in the exact feeding lane of a trout. Because of the sheer abundance of available food, rising trout will seldom move laterally to eat. Use 6x or smaller tippet.
