The Last Chance Cripple fly pattern was designed for the picky, fly inspecting trout of the Henry's Fork, during a Baetis hatch. This fly is designed to imitate a mayfly struggling to escape its nymph exoskeleton. This is a very vulnerable state in life for a mayfly, and trout know that these flies are an easy meal.

This pattern is effective for the following mayfly hatches:
  • Western Green Drake
  • Flav or Lesser Green Drake
  • Dark Green Drake
  • Grey Drake
  • Brown Drake
