Jack's Northern Hogsucker pattern has been a work in progress for a few years now. Northern Hogsuckers are found throughout our trout and bass water, providing a large, consistent food source for predator species year-round. Matching the unique way they swim, as well as their mottled coloration, was solved by palmering contrasting colors of Fulling Mill's Premium Marabou Bloods. The size of the Fulling Mill Marabou allows for palmered feathers to more accurately match the size of the younger fish you'll see in a school, which is hard to achieve with smaller marabou feathers. Palmering the marabou is key, as it provides the constant "breathing" movement, even when you pause the fly. Fulling Mill's Rumble Legs add movement, coloration, and vibration as this fly moves through the current, while a combination of brushes at the head, the Fulling Mill Salty Flash Brush and Voodoo Brush, retains the profile as well as forces the back hook to wiggle as you strip the fly in. If you like chasing big trout and bass, this is a fly you'll want to spin up!
