View full detailsThe Copper J (compare to a Copper John) is a combination of three very effective nymph patterns, the prince nymph, the brassie, and the pheasant tail. The pattern is very effective, and has become just as popular as any other nymph that we sell. The most common way to fish this nymph is to tie it on as a dropper fly, attached to a hopper pattern up front.

View full detailsThe Bird's Nest - Hare's Ear Beadhead pattern has been around for decades, and continues to be a part of most anglers fly box. Why? Because it is as effective today as it was back in 1959, when Cal Bird first tied this fly to imitate a caddis pupa. The pattern is considered to be an Attractor Pattern. With the soft hackle tied to the front of the fly, it imitates a struggling mayfly emerging in the water column, and when swing downstream, does well during a caddis hatch. This is a very versatile fly.

View full detailsGolden Stoneflies are a big meal for a trout. The Rogue Golden Stonefly is our favorite pattern to imitate the Golden Stonefly. Once the nymph crawls out of the river and hatches into an adult, they spend most of their time on nearby willow or alder branches. The adult Golden Stonefly becomes most active during the afternoon, either returning to the water to lay eggs, or being blown into the water by gusts of wind. Knowing these traits of the Golden Stonefly will help your odds during this hatch.
